Yeah the next Star Trek movie!

7PM Imax 3D show of this movie.    Of course..this movie deserves this format!!! I will be at the theater by 6 and will wait by the ropes near the concession stand until they let us into the lower lobby.  It will be NUTS!  Come early if you want to sit with the group.  As soon as they let us in I am running for a good seat!!!!!!!!

In general, I arrive at the theater an hour before the show to start gathering people, and we head in for seats about 30 minutes before the show, so we can sit together. This also allows us to take turns getting snacks, etc., before the previews start.

BUY YOUR TICKETS IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tickets

If you miss the group ahead of time, come find us after. We gather in the hallway outside of the theater we just saw the movie in, to discuss the film a bit, allow for restroom breaks and to get a head count of all those who would like to go out after for drinks and munchies.

$$$$Managing the after event is much easier if everyone brings cash, so please plan ahead if you want to go out with the group after.$$$

I didn't care for it. Too many cliched series quotes crammed into a 2+ hour span. Way too much fan service, not nearly enough story.

I loved it...fun and full of action! Although I do agree, while I enjoyed the references to the old series, it would have been better to do something completely new...I mean that is the point of the reboot, right? But I had too much fun while watching it to quibble about that choice. I am hoping the next one will start a new story line as they start their voyage outward. :)

Another thing that bothered me about this film was that, while it was often excessively sentimental, somehow, overall, it managed to feel emotionally cold and distant. Also, the plot itself was a bit convoluted, but, due to mysteriously poor directing and editing, even more difficult to follow as it was unfolding. Also, what IS J.J. Abrams's fascination with the color blue?...Okay. I'm through venting, I promise. ;-p LOL (Still, as I said in an earlier posting, it was a great evening out with all you guys. C ya.)

This was my second viewing of the movie. I saw it in 3D the night before. I enjoyed this movie immensely and I also enjoyed be able to meet with other members from the movie group afterwards for discussion and a drink. A very enjoyable event.

It was great to spend a few hours with so many established friends, and make a couple of friendly new acquaintances, as well. Thanks, as always, to "Mizzz Shah-buh-no".

A recommendation. If the event host could wear a hat and give it's description here on the site before hand it would be a lot easier for me to find folks. I notoriously find it difficult to find the group.

Has anyone ever mentioned the possibility of maybe doing a matinee or late afternoon Saturday show so that it's NOT nuts? I love the idea of having a group to discuss a movie with, but the idea of seeing a blockbuster movie primetime Saturday night opening weekend, not so much.

*Not* for the AMC Boston Common yet ....

      May 12, 2013

    • Doreen C.

This is really strange....they have Thursday up still and have now added Friday but still no Saturday...this is getting stupid!

      1 · May 12, 2013

  • Doreen C.

So weird, they still do not have any tickets available for Star Trek and it is only a week away. If I get a chance, I will ask someone at the theater tonight.

    May 10, 2013

    • An O.

Interestingly, showtimes are up for the Regal Fenway, but *none* of the AMCs (I looked at Burlington and Revere as well as Boston). Not sure what that means, but it must be significant that all the AMCs aren't showing times yet.

      May 10, 2013

    • Doreen C.

Talked to the theater. They have to wait for the studio to release the schedule and for some reason they are not releasing any advance shows save the opening night ones. She assured me it is coming to AMC and the final schedule will be on Tuesday Night/Wednesday morning. So strange though usually they book at least the large downstairs theater for a movie like this.

      May 11, 2013

  • Doreen C.

It would be a moot point as the movie is opening on a Wednesday night.

    May 2, 2013

  • Paul K.

If tickets are already on sale for opening night(5/17/13), I can only imagine that tickets for the night for which Doreen has already scheduled this meetup(5/18/13, the very next night)will go on sale soon. Changing the date for the meetup would seem to be a bit of an over-reaction, at least at this point.

    May 2, 2013

  • Janis M.

Maybe we should switch to Friday night?

    May 2, 2013

  • Doreen C.

5/2/13 Really weird. I thought for sure that tickets would be available for our meetup by now. Only tickets they seem to be selling right now are for opening night. Shrug. Oh well, I will keep on checking on it.

    May 2, 2013

  • Robert S.

    thanks doreen :)

    April 25, 2013

  • Doreen C.

Ok. I went on the Fandango site and as of 4/23/13 no tickets for the Saturday night showings of this movie. I will be checking frequently for availability. Once they become available I will update the meetup event and send out emails to everyone who rsvp'd yes.

    2 · April 23, 2013

Anyone know if tickets are on sale yet? I expect this will sell-out days before opening.

Just checked today. So far only opening night has any tickets listed.
