Proudhon's What Is Property?

Pierre-Joseph Proudhon's What Is Property? (1840), which famously concludes that "property is theft!" is one of the foundation texts of left -- socialist -- anarchism.

We'll discuss the first third of the book, up to but not including the chapter, "Labor as the efficient cause of property" -- about 100 pages.

Later, we'll cover the rest of the book in two more meetings.

The Marxist.org site's e-text seems to substantially abridged (censored?), so we recommend Project Gutenberg's version: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/360

Amazon has the paperback for $9.65.  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1606802127/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2?pf_rd_p=1535523722&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=1404339078&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1C2NTN214PFBZG19H994
