Unfortunately we didn't set sail since the head was backing up and I wasn't sure what heeling would do. We went out for a bit on the motor though. Wind got a bit brisk, too, and I probably would have taken the sails in or reefed them considerably.

It was a wonderful day with strong wind; but I heard too strong in the morning- 30+ knt gusts. The people from the Meetup group were wonderful fun. I can't wait until next year! The best fun was rescuing a "hat overboard". The crew did not execute their "hat overboard" drill quite as well as trained and the pointers were not pointing too well. After a lengthy search, most gave up on the treasured hat as we called off the search and started to head back to port, but I recommended the crew keep a look out (just in case) as I battled the gusty wind by keeping a steady hand on the helm. Don't tell anyone but I was on the only person in Red Sox Nation that didn't give up on the Red Sox when they were three down vs Yanks in 2004. We finally spotted it by some miracle and rescued it using perfect procedure the second time. The first time the grappling hook missed it! The gusty wind had the hat dry by the time we got back to port. The crew is ordering "Save the Hat" bumper stickers.
