John Dies at the End

The votes are in! For those who would like to meet beforehand, we will be at The Friendly Toast at 1 Hampshire Street, Cambridge, which is in One Kendall Square. I'll try to get there by 5:40. It's a block away from the movie theater.

Otherwise I'll be in the lobby of the Landmark Theater by 6:30 with a Meetup sign. We'll send scouts ahead to grab seats together, and I'll be going in around 6:45.

___________________________________________________________

SPOILER ALERT! Someone named John dies at the end.

Let's meetup and see this gonzo sci-fi movie when they show it at the Kendall Square Cinema. Time is approximate, as the schedule has not been posted yet. We can meet beforehand for the necessary drink or two to steel ourselves.

Synopsis: It's a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. On the street they call it Soy Sauce, and users drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John and David, a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity? No. No, they can't.

This is a hard R-rated movie. To get an idea, check out the VERY NSFW red band trailer:

The movie is already available on iTunes, Amazon Prime, and other download options, but let's see it on the big screen together.

Tickets finally available! We will be going to the 7PM showing, and meeting at the theater at 6:30. Please buy your tickets ASAP!

The movie did disappoint, in that I didn't have much expectation other than it be weird and gonzo, which it was. The group was excellent! Thanks everyone who came out.

I had a good time - Before, during and after the movie. I'm still not sure what to say about the movie though :) I'm definitely looking forward to future meetings with Strangers on the Train!!

Still have not gotten any feedback about meeting beforehand for a drink and a nosh. Anyone want to join me, and shall we go for the retro The Friendly Toast, or the more... reliable I guess.... Cambridge Brewing Co.? Whichever one we pick I'll be at around 5:40-ish.

I'm in too and in the mood for eclectic. I'm also voting for the Friendly Toast but am by no means against a burger and fries

I'm coming from work but I'll try to make beforehand. Looking Forward to meeting the group!

And remember, don't spoil the ending of the movie for me! I hope no one dies.

Thanks for catching that. I've been checking the page all day, and harassing them on their Facebook page.

Hey fellow Dies at the Enders. Still no scheduled showtime. They appear to not list anything until a week beforehand. I'll post the info when they do, and I would recommend purchasing tickets ASAP.

Here's my quixotic request for dinner beforehand suggestions. Joseph recommends The Friendly Toast. Pluses: Kitchy, punk rocky, and fun. Expect lots of cheap PBRs. Minuses: no reservations, no separate checks for parties of 8 or more.

Also nearby is the Cambridge Brewing Co. About the same price range, lots of good beers available, and they take reservations.

I'm easy. Give me a decent sandwich, nice glass of wine and I'm good. Also in the same plaza is Tommy Doyle's and Flat Top Johnny's. I've only been to Doyle's - it's decent.
