Terminator 2 with Wearable Computing Guru Thad Starner

The Coolidge Corner Theatre is showing an archival 35mm print of T2 on Monday, May 20 as part of its Science on Screen series. Thad Starner, a pioneering researcher in wearable computing who has been called one of the world's leading experts on what it's like to live a cyborg's life, speaks before the film. Starner, an associate professor in the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech and a technical lead on Google's Project Glass, was inspired by the Terminator films as an undergrad at MIT, where he also got his PhD. Thad was well worth the admission. Terminator 2 an added bonus.

tonight was probably one of the best nights of my night. A. To be singled out of the crowd from the Director of the Theater/Program/MIT for my love and respect of T2( she saw my videos on the collection I have and my video for seeing the film today), B- seeing the film in its original 35mm Film Format FROM 1991 Original circulation and best of all C - Being able to hold and touch the print. Literally...hold the Film! This was a night that as a Terminator fan and a person in general I will never forget.

Really interesting talk beforehand (and Q&A afterwards), and a lot of fun to see T2 on the big screen again.

Congratulations to Ryan Smith and the Sci-fi/Fantasy meetup group for getting a shout-out by the film series organizer in her remarks before the showing!

I'm going to grab a quick sandwich at a place called Seven Subs before the movie. It it located on the other side of the large lot behind the movie theater. I'll probably be there around 5:45 p.m. and heading over to the theater at 6:15 p.m. Feel free to join me for some pre-movie chow and chat.

I just volunteered Jerry (who was going anyway). I don't think he knows yet, so it's a surprise ;)

Anyone interested in meeting up before hand to get something to eat? Suggestions? There are tons of options in the area. And I wouldn't mind grabbing a beer afterwards with Ryan "Cameron" Smith.

This sounds awesome. I wish I didn't live in New Zealand or I'd be there (and I'll be back too...)
