Firefly Paint Nite @ Yoki

Paint Nite, for those not familiar with the phenomenon, is a super chill opportunity to be guided in producing a painting that you can bring home with you at the end--and during the process, you are welcome to drink and dine and chit chat with your fellow artistes!

Unfortunately, Paint Nite does not feature any specifically scifi/fantasy-themed paintings, and the cost for commissioning a special design is $250 (plus, we'd need up to 35 people to sign up to split the separate $900 private event cost, too). I perused the upcoming options for an already-existing design that might work for our group, and it seems that the Firefly option is a good one, both because of the title, as well as the sort of astral flavor to the piece:

The cost is usually $45, but Groupon is offering a $25 deal at the moment:

As of 11/21, there are only 8 tickets left to this event, so please sign up soon if you are interested--these events seem to sell out fast! Yoki is conveniently located on the Red Line, in Central Square.

Sorry I didn't type in No. The weather is mighty frightful, and I don't need more than a minor cold AND I fly home for the holidays tomorrow.

I owe you one, Sci-Fi/Fantasy meetup. I'm sure it was very fun!

This may appear twice; my phone is wonky with these comments... I apologize to the stalwart among you who are braving the storm, but my commute home took so long that I've decided to forego the trip into Central. I how the brave souls that show up have fun!

Presuming the event won't be cancelled due to snow, there are now 2 available tickets via the Paint Nite website (as of 12:30pm Tuesday, day of).

Hi everyone, sorry if it want clear, but you do need to obtain your own tickets to this event. Last I checked, it was sold out. However, sometimes people decide to withdraw from a night they've reserved, and spots thus open up, so you can keep your eye on the Paint Nite website and your fingers crossed...

I just reopened the RSVPs, because it looks like one more ticket has become available (per the PaintNite website).

Day-after-Thanksgiving update: The tickets are now sold out for this event, so I have closed it to new RSVPs. Hope everyone that RSVP'd had a chance to buy theirs before it was too late! Sometimes extra seats do show up due to cancellations, so keep an eye on the event website if you really wanted to go but put off the ticket purchase a little too long.

The night of the event, I will do my best to get there by 6:30 and stake out several seats in close proximity so our group can be socially cohesive. Dressing in browncoats is optional ;o)
