Arisia 2013

UPDATE:  We will meet just outside of the hotel bar in the lobby area on Saturday at 12:00 PM to chat and grab lunch.  We can also meet on Sunday at 12:00 PM if people can't make Sat.  I will be wearing a red or navy blue cloak.

"New England's largest and most diverse science fiction and fantasy convention." Let's meet up and explore the con together, or for lunch/dinner to share experiences if our time and interests conflict. Pre-reg is $50 for 4 days before Dec 31st, then $60 afterwards.

At the door day rates:
Friday - $20
Saturday - $40
Sunday - $30
Monday - $10

I plan on attending starting Friday evening or Sat morning until Monday. More info to come on exactly when and where to congregate.

Great , but I felt last year was better. There were much more Art panels to got to!

Doctor Who was really popular this year!

Lots of fun panels, really enjoyed the techno contradance and the Renaissance dance, and met a bunch of fascinating people.

Tons of fun, I only saw a few Meetup people, but had a blast with those I did see. For anyone considering this next year I highly recommend a room at the hotel, or commuting via the T. Parking was a huge pain

I hope everyone is having fun! I'd love to see pictures and hear your thoughts- I'm thinking of going to this one next year :)

We should all chip in for a party room next year!

I am so very sorry for missing everyone during our Sat meeting time; I was stuck on the T for 1.5 hours due to a fire at one of the stations and traffic. Will make every effort to be there at the meetup on Sun. If I don't show up don't wait for me.

Looks like I missed everyone , parking and traffic were worse than I expected. Anyone care to setup a second netting later in the afternoon?

We will meet just outside of the hotel bar in the lobby area on Saturday at 12:00 PM to chat and grab lunch. We can also meet on Sunday at 12:00 PM if people can't make Sat. I will be wearing a red or navy blue cloak and possibly be holding the Meetup sign. We'll wait for people for about 15-20 min before leaving.

Tip: for those of you who have never been to Arisia, be aware that there are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity other than what's in the hotel, and they usually have a LONG wait. While there is a consuite (last year it mainly consisted of a pile of shredded breads, peanut butter, and soda), bring high-protein snacks/bars or be prepared to allocate time to eat off-site.

BTW, the lobby bar is called Birch Bar. The restaurants are a reasonable distance away from the lobby bar area so even if crowds spill out it won't be all the way out to the bar.

There's a[masked] panel I want to check out.

will be around but doubt I'll get there by noon today. nb: for other people coming, while Rosie's comment about food is very true, you can find sandwiches at the Starbucks without waiting too long

I'll be there Friday at around 7pm and starying through Sunday morning. A friend of mine and I have a room! YAY!

So as we get closer to D-Day here, anyone have thoughts about actually meeting up?

A discussion has been posted in the message boards for ideas to make the most out of conventions. As a con neophyte myself, I hope some of you pros will post your tips.

Can anyone who's gone before tell me what the cosplay scene is like there? Are there a lot of people in costumes, or would a person stick out if they wore one? Thanks!

I was at DragonCon this year (2012); I vaguely remember a Carmen Sandiego costume. Perhaps that was you?

There were a few standard Carmens (and of course, a sexy!!!!! version or two) there this year, but I was the only one who did a Steampunk version that I know of! But if you saw me in a bright red Victorian coat and bustle and matching hat with goggles and gears, that was me :)

I've been here before. For those of you driving in. There is a parking lot located on Necco St which is two blocks down that charges $12 for parking the entire day and $6 all day on the weekends(I believe the still do)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
