Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters

By popular demand, we will be going to the 7:50PM 2D showing. This is opening night, so buy your ticket in advance. I will be in the lobby by the escalators at 7:15, and heading to get seats around 7:30.

Beforehand you will find me at Remington's of Boston. It doesn't get great Yelp reviews, but Stoddards is too pricy, IMHO. I'll be there around 6PM. I hope you can recognize me from my profile pics.

File under "so bad it might be really good", Hansel (Jeremy Renner) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton) are all grown up, and now they're hunting witches, including one played by Famke Janssen. With Gatling guns.

I've left time and location open, since that information hasn't been published yet. I'm flexible on which night to see it, too. All I ask is that we meet beforehand to fortify ourselves with a few drinks. :)

It was fun, with the right about of action, humor, romance & suspense.

I had been thinking of going, but the Rotten Tomatoes scores for this film are absolutely awful. What did everyone think of it?

Agreed. Lots of gore. I loved it.

Total fun. The critics are too stuffy to just enjoy this.

At the theater, by the escalators in the main lobby. Movie is upstairs in theater 13.

Going to be a bit l8. Could someone text me where everyone is sitting?

I'm at the pub, right by the door. The place is easy to find, just past the Colonial Theatre. Hope folks can join us.

Hey guys, I got good news (for you, possibly) and bad news (for me). Once again, for about the billionth time, work is going to prevent me from having a social life tonight, so I cannot attend the flick. I did, however, already purchase a ticket, so if any of you needs one, reply to this message and I'll link you the pdf of my ticket. First person to reply wins.

I was really looking forward to tonight too :( Such is the life of a consultant. Apple has a problem, I need to fix it.

I reserved at table for 10 at Remmingtons for 6PM. It is under the name Hansel. Who knows, I might be early.

I'm not sure if they're putting up upstairs or downstairs (never been), but the upstairs dining area, although open concept, is somewhat separate from the bar

    11% on Rotten Tomatoes.

With a landslide of three votes, it looks like the 7:50 2D showing is the winner. Food/drinks beforehand? Remingtons? JM Curley? Stoddards Food and Ale (bit pricy but good)? Other suggestions?

    January 23, 2013

    • Maria

The only one I've been to is Remingtons. Good pub food and libations selection. I also like Sweetwater (down the alley from Remingtons) but it'll probably be busier and definitely louder - more of a bar atmosphere.

I'll go to the 7:50 showing too, not a fan of the 3D versions

    January 23, 2013

  • Maria

I'm not a fan of 3D either, but am open to any of the options

    January 23, 2013

  • Jerry

Oh, this is a tough one my little Hansels and Gretels, I know there's some anti-3D sentiment here, but showtimes are a pain. Here they are, let me know what you think!

7PM 3D IMAX $18 (good time for those getting out of work.)
6:10PM 3D Real3D $16 (can people getting out of work make this?)
7:50PM Regular showing $12 (too late? You tell me! I can wait at the bar!)

    January 23, 2013

  • Jerry

No showtimes or theater locations have been posted yet, but it certainly will be at the AMC Loews Boston Common 19, which seems to be our go-to theater due to its central location. I'm putting that as the location for now, to help you all with your planning.
