For those looking for an interesting walk, try Benson's in Hudson, NH. It used to be a zoo, now overgrown in some places, but with wetlands and a dog park (bowls are there but take your own water). This summer, I took my two fosters there for walks several times. We saw blue herons, a woodchuck, and 13 turtles sitting on the same log in the water. If someone on this meet up would like to post an event there, you would enjoy it.I'm back in Japan starting a new school year.

Is that Groton, MA, where the private school is? Seems like a nice place. Is water available there?
Hi Amanda Howard,
I'm sort of an in absentia sponsor of this site, since ten months out of the year, I'm in Japan. There's a dog park in Nashua, but you have to pay dues to use it. Since I'm only home two months a year, I can't see doing that. If it were monthly, I'd join. I usually go to Derry. There's also Lovewell Pond, which is nice if your dogs like to swim. The water is clean enough for human swimming. If some of your dogs like to hike, I'd recommend Human Soles and Doggie Paws (I think that's the name). I've gone for a few hikes with them in the summer and it was fun.
If you would like to have an event, even if just planning to go somewhere yourself, feel free to post it here and meet the others in the meet-up group. Hope to see you this summer!

Hello, All! I've been busy trying to find homes for my three fosters and practicing piano for my niece's wedding. I have three weeks left till going back to Japan for the school year.I'd like to see some things get started and people and pups get to know each other. So how many of you are near the NH/MA border? Derry has a great dog park and Nashua has Mine Falls, a great place for walks. Also in south Nashua is Lovewell Pond, with swimming class water and some trails (bring the insect repellant, though). So if you want to go in swimming with your canine companion, it's a good place and about a half mile walk in from the road. These are just suggestions. Most of the doggie meet ups I'm familiar with get together on Sundays. So maybe we could do a weekday afternoon/early evening for those of us busy weekends.Let me know what you think of these ideas or let us know your own.

Please Note Correction: Next week's meet up will be at GROTON PLACE/SABINE WOODS which is off Route 225 in Groton. There appears to be only one parking area and entry where we can all meet.

Hopkinton State Park does not have a fenced area but my Shiba has a 26 foot leash that allows her to do her crazy Shiba summersaults and running. We can meet this weekend if you want to meet at this park or another. I have a load of info and funny experiences to share.

I saw that this group is about to shut down for lack of an organizer. Never fear! If you're not already a part of the Boston Shibas group on Facebook, please do join. We are extremely active and have monthly meets up thanks in large part to the hard work of John Gramazio. The April meet up is currently being planned. See you soon!

Its time to RSVP for February's Shiba Inu Meet Up. I have spoken with Boston Red Dog and I have reserved a very large indoor space for our MeetUp on Saturday February 23rd from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. There is plenty of parking and pretty easy to find. Their address is:
Boston Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa
274 Southampton Street, Boston, MA
Last month was supposed to be indoors, but there was a scheduling conflict, so I made sure to avoid that at all costs this month.
Hope to see everyone there!

Hey everyone we are having an enormous Shiba Inu Meetup in Boston. Hey everyone!
haven't seen an update for the past two months. anything coming up soon?
0 · February 5, 2013
This meet up.com page is never updated. I started my own and we have monthly Shiba Meetups here in the Boston area. Here is a link to our page. We have a meet up coming up Feb 23rd at Boston Red Dog in Boston, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Hey Shibas and Parents,
Septembers Shiba meet up is scheduled for Saturday September 22nd at 11:00 AM at the Danehy Dog Park in Cambridge (Close to the Alewife T Station and Fresh Pond) The parking lot is located at 167 New St Cambridge MA 02138. There is plenty of free parking in the lot. Once you pull in the lot, go to the far left and you will see the dog park in the back corner. There are 3 fenced in areas of this park, a small dog area (on the left), a big/mix dog area, and a time out area. I am sure we can take over the small dog area, or at least have our shibas socialize in there, without any problem!
Also, coming in October will be our first annual Shiba Meet Up Halloween Costume Contest. There will be a prize for the best dressed Shiba. Also I will be making homemade Halloween dog treats for all Shibas. Don't worry I am a chef so they should turn out good (fingers crossed)! Join the new meetup grouphttp://www.meetup.com/Shiba-Inu-Meet-Up-Boston-Area/John

I wanted to email everyone and ask for suggestions for fenced in dog parks for the September Shiba Inu Meet Up. I was thinking about Bark Park in South Boston, but I am open for suggestions.
Anyone have any other options? I know everyone seemed to like the Somerville Dog park. Any suggestions would be considered and greatly appreciated. Input from the Meet Up group is best!
Thanks and hope the end of your summer is going well!

Hi everybody, just joined the group. My gf and I have fallen in love w/ shiba inu's and have been looking to find a breeder with puppies available/soon to be available. Unfortunately we have not had a lot of success so if anyone knows of anything or a breeder you can connect us with it would be really appreciated. Thanks and hope to join you all soon with a happy pup.

have you thought of rescue
We have but have not seen one from a rescue. Knowing how closely they tend to bond with their owners and how training can sometimes be challenging we really want to get one as a puppy which makes the rescue option a little tougher
http://nycshibarescue... I know this is not in Boston, however Shiba Inus are rare and amazing dogs. This rescue has several that need loving homes. You look at their pics, and you read up on their history and it melts your heart. Please consider rescuing from this group. These Shibas need a loving home. Most Shiba Inu owners that I know, have fixed their Shibas and will not breed them. I understand your thought process on wanting a young pup, however Shibas are extremely difficult to train, so no matter what age you get a Shiba, it will take a lot of patience to train the little buddy!
Hi Kyle, we know many people who have Shiba's that need to be adopted around the country. Can you send me some contact info (at least an email address) and I can get you in touch with them? I do see puppies quite often Kyle, but let me know how old is "too old."

Thank you so much for reaching out to me. My email address is [masked] and my mobile is[masked] 5223. Ideally we would like to get one under 6 months.
We both are going to be out of the country for a little over a week due to a recent family emergency so please excuse any delays in our further communication. Thanks again
Laurie, I am interested. Does the park have a fenced area? I have two 4 months old shibas, let me know when you want to get together.
Is anyone interested in a Shiba play date at Hopkinton State Park on weekends? It's a huge park with lots of trails and fields for running. Let me know who is interested. My Shiba, Tori and I would love to meetup with other Shibas but still haven't since we joined this group last year. We would love to meet-up for play dates anywhere between Hopkinton and Boston.
Hi all! I am putting together a North East Shiba Meet Up in May! It would be wonderful to see all of you there! Please check out the meet up website for more information and contact me if you have any questions!

Directions: It really depends on where you're coming from because there isn't a direct way to get there until you are on 225. I am so used to driving there that I can't even think of neighboring roads. But however way you get to 225 in Groton, you just look for the giant iron gates, and you're there (helpful, I know).
Meeting should occur just past the bridge at the entrance. There's a sign that states dogs can be unleashed past the bridge. That's the spot! There's a nice place to sit.
5 yo Red Shiba looking for a new home!
Emi is a handsome, well behaved, neutered Shiba, whose owners now have 2 little ones and a job that doesn't leave much time for them to give Emi the attention he deserves. So, they are looking for just the right new home for him. If anyone is interested the owner is Melissa and can be reached at[masked]-3304. He is also listed in NYC Shiba Rescue under courtersy listings for owners.
Can anyone give directions and a good place to meet at Groton Woods?
How about Saturday August 6 at 1:00 pm for Groton Woods?
I'm looking forward to this! Any update on a date?

Hi Shiba People,I have stepped down as organizer and hope you all can continue. Congrats to Chris for stepping up to it. This month seems to have flown by. Would anyone like to suggest a date for Groton Woods next month?
Also, an intact red sesame male Shiba was picked up in Windham, NH. He may have been on the loose for a couple of weeks. If anyone knows anything about him or his owners please contact Nozomi Shibas. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Happy Fourth of July! See you soon.
