Web Developer


Web Developer wanted to work on Berkleemusic Online Music School, Berklee Musician’s Network and other related web and mobile properties. Developers will find an opportunity to help advance our platforms and development next generation applications for music instruction, interactive marketing, social networking, front end and back end systems and mobile applications.


Required Experience

  • BS or BA in information technology, computer science or related field.
  • At least 3 years experience in developing web sites with relational database components.
  • Demonstrated experience programming in PHP, Rails or equivalent.Mastery of an MVC programming environment - Ruby on Rails a plus. 
  • Advanced data modeling and SQL skills on enterprise-class databases (e.g. MySQL, Postgres) including query tuning and optimization for large datasets.
  • Expert knowledge of client side technologies including familiarity with the latest HTML/CSS/JavaScript practices (Berkleemusic favors jQuery).
  • Experience designing, deploying and tuning mission critical websites in an agile development environment.
  • Strong UNIX command line skills and expertise with open source technologies and version control tools such as git.

Interaction Designer/Front-End Developer


The Interaction Designer/Front-End Developer will perform a hybrid role of designing consumer-facing and back-office web applications, as well as code to modern web standards to see designs through to completion, testing and launch.


Required Skills

  • Analyze user interface problems and create design solutions that meet business goals and requirements.
  • Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, client input, technical constraints and findings from usability testing.
  • Design the UI architecture, charts, wireframes and interaction flowsDesign user interface, visual look and feel for a variety of screen sizes.
  • Coding flat designs and prototyping using HTML, CSS and JavaScriptUpdate and maintain existing sites.

Systems Engineer


The Systems Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining the software and production systems behind berkleemusic.com and berkleemusicnetwork.com. The Systems Engineer will work closely with the Business and Operations team to design, build, and upgrade critical systems components within the infrastructure, as well as monitor and analyze the existing platform for weaknesses.  This role will also require a certain level of programming to handle troubleshooting issues with custom built and managed software systems. Over time, the position will evolve to include an added degree of software development.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops, deploys and maintains integrations among existing enterprise systems and new partners.
  • Serves as first responder in the event of off-hours systems and follows established escalation procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining “four nines” availability of our online school infrastructure.
  • Available at times for operational upgrades and emergency off-hours either remotely or on-site depending on scope of issue.
  • Responsible for analyzing system hardware and software performance and defining and prioritizing projects deemed necessary to enhance performance, capacity, and stability.
  • Maintains and addresses issues of system security and the integrity of our confidential customer data.
  • Provides issue resolution on a day-to-day basis for Berkleemusic’s custom software platform, as well as assists in planning and implementing long-term resolutions to issues.
  • Keeps documentation of all performance improvements made and implements an online upgrades calendar under the direction of the Software and Engineering Manager.
  • Stays current with technology and researches the web for new developments and trends.


Knowledge and Skills Required

  • BS or BA in information technology, computer science or related field preferred.
  • Strong Linux skills required.
  • Experience with installation, upgrades and maintenance required; Linux virtualization experience a plus.
  • Network administration experience required. Experience with configuring network services such as DNS and e-mail required; switch, firewall and router con-figuration a plus.
  • Experience with high traffic, public facing websites. Experience working with open source relational databases.
  • Replication and high availability experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with open source version control systems.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-level virtualized storage and systems.Ability to analyze infrastructure for weaknesses and single points of failure, as-sess risk based on that analysis, and make recommendations to mitigate as necessary.
  • Some programming experience required, with a desire to learn.Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Interactive Marketing Manager


The Interactive Marketing Manager is responsible for monitoring, analyzing and evaluating web traffic nuances, overseeing online and affiliate marketing for Berkleemusic, the Online Extension School at Berklee College of Music. The IMM will oversee the operations of reporting, project management, and web marketing programs. The candidate will monitor and analyze all incoming traffic to Berkleemusic's web properties; including incoming leads, log analysis, landing page activity and conversions, pay-per-click and search engine organic traffic as well as outbound traffic via email campaigns and promotions. 

The individual will work closely with the Director of Interactive Marketing in executing online programs, inbound and outbound campaigns and strategies including email marketing, pay-per-click and paid media advertising, search engine optimization, partner and social media marketing. The individual will provide reports and recommendations for improving online revenues, conversion rates, and online affiliate partnerships.

 

Required Skills

  • Works with the Director of Interactive Marketing to expand online marketing outreach and web affiliate programs for the online school.
  • Responsible for significantly improving and optimizing conversion rates on all incoming and outgoing traffic.
  • Provides weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting on traffic, referrals, web search, campaigns, leads, online sales, landing pages and marketing funnel performance, as well as outbound email campaigns, both manual and automated, using Marketo enterprise software and other analytical tools.
  • Provides analysis reports and recommendations on lead generation, cart abandonment rates and e-commerce performance.
  • Develops effective landing page strategies for inbound traffic.
  • Analyzes search engine referrals on all Berkleemusic's web properties and executes SEO projects.
  • Point person for in-house web analytics software and all Marketo related projects.
  • Executes multi-variant testing programs.
  • Creates manual and automated, Marketo-driven campaigns and reports.
  • Provides analysis and reports for search engine traffic, search indexing, PPC performance and ROI.
  • Works closely with Director of Interactive Marketing to develop strategies to increase traffic referrals from partner sites and paid media campaigns.
  • Oversees affiliate marketing development and marketing timelines; including monitoring and coordinating campaigns with partner sites and promotions.
  • Works closely with content and marketing staff to develop outreach and retention programs to grow and maintain enrollment numbers according to departmental goals.
  • Will support the marketing team in all related marketing programs when needed and will work closely with Director of Interactive Marketing to ensure that goals are met.

 

Required Experience

  • At least five years of experience in online marketing, email marketing, affiliate and search engine marketing.
  • College degree in marketing or equivalent.
  • A high level of experience in email marketing, e-commerce and online marketing.
  • A high level of experience using Marketo enterprise software and Google AnalyticsA working knowledge of HTML and Web development fundamentals.
  • A strong understanding of SEO and PPC marketing. Demonstrated strong analytical, written and communication skills, and the ability to maintain high levels of creativity and quality.
  • Effective presentation skills, initiative, follow through and adherence to deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously with great efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact effectively with editorial, marketing and management personnel.Must be a self-starter who works well with others in a team-oriented environment.
