  • The Boston Atheists Meetup Group

It sucked. If you're going to have a meet-up have it somewhere that it's not a secret location. I arrived at the given address (595 Comm.) and there was no room 101 to be found. I contacted custodial services (who presumably know the building better than anyone) and was advised that there was no "Kenmore Theater" at that location. WTF? No signage...NOTHING!!! Get it together. Thanks for wasting my time!!!

  • The Boston Atheists Meetup Group

An organizer, Zachary Bos, of this group is intellectually dishonest and does not care about maintaining open and honest discussions. He distorts the views of others and deletes not only the comments of others he disagrees with but his own comments when they have been shown to be in the wrong. I am a long time atheist and I am quitting this group. If I wanted to be censored for my beliefs I'd join a church or synagogue.

Seems far to passive to thrive, as an identity, or as a major contributor to an atheist, non-theist, free thought, or secular humanist community, that could thrive. As there are is too little emphasis on partnering for reproduction, parenting, and the things that make a community sustainable, and capable of thriving.

  • The Boston Atheists Meetup Group

Atheists have the same needs for social interaction and communal participation as all people -- this is a great way to enjoy both of those, without having to abandon either a healthy skepticism or one's commitment to true beliefs about the world.

There is much on Google about the Supreme Court case Abington vs. Schempp. That 'landmark' from 1963 needs renewing with present-day humanists and non-believers.

It's a great way for fellow atheists to congregate (oops, wrong word) and share their thoughts and feelings in a supportive network in a Christian-dominated society.

  • The Boston Atheists Meetup Group

I like the diversity of people and viewpoints. I especially like that the group is largely composed of people who have chosen to think about their views and can speak to them rationally, even if he/she advocated a viewpoint that I didn't endorse. Being different isn't necessarily wrong. ;-)

  • The Boston Atheists Meetup Group

I attended my first meeting this month and discovered a fun open-minded group who aren't afraid to talk about anything. I was amazed at how intelligent everyone that I got a chance to talk to was. Topics of the night ranged from cat behavior to human psychology, from everyday life to altruism and charity, from marriage to religion, and a lot in between an unrelated. It was interesting to see how the conversations shifted and it was never boring.
