I'm an exMormon as well. It makes me happy to see other people realizing what a crock it is and getting out. There are lists hundreds of items long detailing the various forms of evidence that Mormonism is a fraud.

Will there be active Mormons there, or are we not so lucky?

I think that what kills it is the fact that we "knew" and felt certain that it was the one true church. After being so misled by emotion it's rather easy to admit that emotion is useless in testing truth claims, and that knowledge that feelings are subjective pretty much undercuts all religion. I was still interested in eastern philosophy when I stopped going to church, and found that the one sure-fire way to get an incredible spiritual journey is to take psychedelics like LSD (not to be confused with LDS). It was these experiences that convinced me that personal experiences are evidence of nothing.

I'm also and ex-mormon and really wish I could go, but the timing is poor for me. I hope a similar discussion is held in the future.

Wish I could go--as a former Mormon, I'd be interested in hearing about others' deconversions.

That's a great summary of the factual problems with the Mormon church. Mormon apologetic group FAIR wrote a rebuttal to this, after which the author wrote "Debunking FAIR's Debunking," a much more thorough refutation of church claims. Turns out that the apologists agree with 79% of the accusations the author leveled at the church.

Chris, I wasn't aware of the back and forth between FAIR and the author. Thanks for the heads up; I love reading this stuff!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
