<<JIM WROTE: One more though. Do we know anyone
sympathetic to our beliefs and love of freedom that is able to
translate what we do into Arabic? One of the things that foreign
correspondents covering the protests noted is that locally hired
translators will deliberately change the meanings of their questions and
statements to further inflame feelings. If we post something on the Web
or YouTube, let's make sure we preempt Islamic radicals from supplying
their own version of a translation.>>
Yes: I've already reached out to Arabic (Moroccan and Egyptian) and French translators, who would be willing to work with us.
Raja, when you're ready to take the planning for this Free Speech event to the next level, I'd encourage you to use a Google Group to do so. I very much like the idea of having a demonstration on Sunday the 30th -- "Blasphemy Day", which is a prominent banner to operate under, even if our message is entirely less incendiary -- if the permitting allows. We've already heard from a number of interested parties, and I have plenty of people in my Rolodex -- religious and nonreligious alike! -- who would be willing supporters. Let us know how you'd like to proceed, or if you've heard from someone who'd like to take the reins of this project.
Today's one of the days I'm proud to be part of this community of ours.
