Re: [bostonatheists] Your irreligious daily devotional

"There's no new thing under the sun"? This message sent from your smart phone as your flight is about to push back from the gate. Somewhat new compared to messages burned into stone tablets at the top of Mount Hor, don't you think?

I can buy all of your thoughts on the matter.

I guess my very limited thought on the devotional was about the way it connects our little modern community with the ancients. It strikes me as important to constantly challenge our own hubris. We didn't invent unbelief.  As the bible says, there's no new thing under the sun.

Anyway ... I shall subside. My SFO -> BOS flight is about to pull back from the gate.

For my part, I thought your message was light-hearted as far as religion bashing-goings. If there's anything to talk about here, I'd think it's our commitment *in general* to either being critical of religion/theism, or being pro-active about the development of secular community.

All best,

 Well ... woah ....

My first impulse, whenever I give offense, is to apologize. But this time I find myself asking myself what exactly was the substance of my offense in this case? (Apart from my clumsiness in missattributing a sentence of Greenblatt the american reflecting sentiment of the Epicurus the greek in a book about Pogglio the italian's rediscovery of the writings of Lucrecius the roman ... )
