Joyce, Punch

Dear Finneganers:

I recall reading in some book or another a little bit about the
presence of Punch magazine in Finnegans Wake. I don't have the piece
at hand right now, nor do I even recall where I read it; but as I was
looking through some Punch pages this morning, I thought I'd share
these two with you, from the volume collecting issues from 1900. I
could readily see this kind of fish-out-of-water /
aren't-English-oafish humor being an influence on Joyce's
representation of the mingling of furreners midst the home sort.

Whatever else, these are funny.
