Hi all

heh in a great twist I have to defend the bible..

thankfully, the atheist bible is no ordinary bible. it is so named to be a
counterpoint to the actual bible. whats inside should quickly persuade
ANYONE -even a skeptical atheist suffering from rash and fever- that it is
nothing like the dogmatic bible we know. the point is to lay out an
intelligible argument for a meaningful life that is ethical, constructive
and not one bit of fear, killing, wrath, hate and the like.

so whats not to like? are you presuming that a basically timely teaching
will be later on subverted into tool for mass abuse of humanity. hmm ok I
have to give you that one.

anyway the intention of course is to help explain the humanist or atheist
positions. there is really a sort of 'marketing' problem in that dogma is
clear but many people cant spell 'conjectures and refutations' let alone
understand it.

one last point regarding reasons for meeting. the fund. Islamics are waging
war on the west. the fundamentalist Islamic position is summarized by a
specific koranic prophesy which is central to the belief system and taught
WIDELY, namely: there will be a world war. the world will either turn fund.
Islamic or be destroyed.

this was laughable for hundreds of years but not anymore. contemplate the
number of nucs accessible now or near future. add to that the rise of fund.
religions. seems that religious dogma may finally lead to its inescapable
logical outcome- war to the death between dogmas- in our lifetime. that's
pretty interesting isn't it?

can modern philosophy have a measurable impact? it would seem if ever there
was a chance to have an impact it is now with accessibility to information.
so I'd like a counter bible out there to attract those bibleheads and
dissuade them from annihilating everyone- Not to argue semantics.

boy, am I not optimistic about either goal.

ps Zack you still doing tomorrow at harvard brewry???
