What is Feminism to you?

Feminism is equality for all (races, classes, ages, genders, sexual orientations)--plain and simple. It's about balancing the systems of privilege so that people are treated as people--not objectified, not demeaned or denied rights, no more straw man arguments, slut shaming, slur throwing, etc. People are valued, accepted, and appreciated as people.

How/why did you find this group?

I've been passionately feminist for several years, but it's only in recent time I've realized how much I've internalized the expectations of a sometimes misogynist culture. Breaking out of that has been immensely liberating.

How can we find more young Boston Feminists?

The same way you found me--Meetup is a great resource.

Introduction

I've graduated with an MFA in poetry a couple years back and am working on my manuscript, whilst also holding a day job at MIT and volunteer teaching Literature. Amateur ukulele player, Zumba-goer, spicy food engineer.
