Feminism is the process of working against large-scale oppressions including but not limited to sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, classism, and racism. In my life, it is also about working to dismantle the privileges I receive and keeping myself accountable.
I joined this group because there's still so much work that needs to be done to dismantle patriarchy and white supremacy culture and work towards collective liberation.
I'm all for connecting with different groups. I really like organizing joint events with Boston's Anti-Racist's My Knapsack Is Not Invisible Group.
For my day job I am an astronomer, but at night I am a social justice activist working for racial justice, feminism, LGBT rights, and animal rights. I help organize events for New Wave, the Knapsack anti-racism group and a feminist sci-fi book club.
This is the best meet-up group I have ever been in.
