"QWOC+ Boston (Queer women of color and friends) is producing QWOC Week - a week long festival featuring art, music, discussion, social, and outdoor events intended to increase visibility for LGBTQ women of color. As part of that week (in fact, it's the kick-off!) is an activist meet and greet: FEMINIST FRIDAY (July 30th @ Caprice Lounge, 7-10PM)."
And for added awesomeness, QWOC+ has invited New Wave to co-host this event! This would be our first collaboration with another group, and I hope you're all as excited as I am! All we'd have to do is sell ten tickets (only $10 each, I'll update when they go on sale), which shouldn't be a problem for our group of 80+ members.
I think co-hosting sounds like a great opportunity to meet new people, build alliances, and stir up interest in our group. BUT New Wave is not a dictatorship, and I want to make sure people are into this before I go adding our name to it. If not, I'll still make it a MeetUp and we can still go as a group. So, thoughts?
New Wave is a group that incorporates the myriad perspectives of our members to build a radically-welcoming feminist community.
This isn't our grandmothers' Feminism - we draw on the great progress of previous generations while forging ahead and creating our own path.
As a diverse group of Feminists, Womanists, Gender Studies students, professionals, and other folks with an interest in gender equality, we welcome ALL voices, Queer or straight, cis or trans, all genders and all backgrounds.
