I hope your break is still going well! I'm back at work :-( but I'm looking forward to the next meeting. I'd like to volunteer to lead the discussion group Sunday. I think you're right about staying away from more loaded topics like FGM.
Being that we might have some new faces... it'd be great to start with: what is feminism; what does feminism mean in your life; how do you practice it; and gender roles. I can prepare a few leading questions and I'll be ready to sort of facilitate if we get heated or woefully off track or something, which I can't imagine :-)
My roommate Mandi really wanted to come but she'll be in NYC for the weekend. She's already suggested some really interesting topics to me that I think she wants to save for when she can make a meeting -- like gender absolutism and women in business.
Have you thought about where we might meet? I have an idea for a place downtown -- it sounds kind of cheesy but it's spacious with a good vibe, and it should be relatively uncrowded at 3 on Sunday. It's a bar in the Faneuil Hall neighborhood called The Black Rose. It is the kind of place I would call first though. Without knowing whether we can use the Lucy Parsons Center, this came to mind as a nice open space that'd be a little easier for some of our downtown friends to get to. Just a thought anyway!
