Zakim Bridge @ Dusk

North Point Park in Cambridge offers another great view of the city, and catching this view at sunset / golden hour / blue hour can make for some stunning shots of our awesome city's newest (not that new anymore I suppose) landmark. If you have a tripod, that would be a very good idea for some nice long exposures.

After maybe we can a bite to eat and beer somewhere? Sunset is about 8:30pm, so let's plan on 7:30pm - and stay through the blue hour!

MBTA stop is Museum (green line) - or you can pay to park at the Science Museum Garage (right across the street form the park).

UPDATE:

Please look at this map for exact meetup location. We will meet at 7:30pm and probably start walking toward the Zakim, as shown, around 7:45pm. If you arrive late, just head that way, I suspect it will be hard to miss the group!

I am loving all the photos from everyone. The benefits of having a group there to share thoughts, ideas and techniques is apparent in the vast variety of shots that everyone has shared. It truly is amazing all the different perspectives and concepts that each person brings to the table. I was there last weekend and was so focused on the bridge, that I missed everything else around me (that you all captured to fantastically!) I hope that I am able to make an event soon and meet everyone.

I don't know what it'll be like on a Saturday night, but Sunday night I parked at the end of Education Street (1st right off Museum Way). It looks like you are going into the construction site, but if you follow the road around to the right, there's a lot of space by the MBCR tracks (under the bridge that connects North Point Park to Paul Revere Park). At the end by the water there is a bridge that leads into the park. No fee and not too badly lit after it got dark.

There's an unpaved area, under the connector, behind the construction between the MBCR tracks and where the Duck Boats go into the Charles. Plenty of space to parking for an hour or so. There is a little area where you can squeeze through to get into the park.

I am really new in meetup and this kind of events. I guess it will be easy to find you, because all of you will carry on a camera, tripods, etc. So I guess I will meet you on Saturday.

The T stop is the one for the Museum of Science, but I think the stop is actually called "Science Park." From the T stop, you have to walk the length of the dam (along the viaduct that carries the Green Line) before turning right into the park. If you don't find the close traffic too unnerving along this walk, you might want your camera in hand. The viaduct itself is interesting, and you know, there are always sights along the street.

I'm looking forward to this as I haven't shot the area in a while. Over the weekend I was scouting the area a little and discovered that there is a new sidewalk that connects North Point Park with Paul Revere Park, which is on the other side of the Zakim. Of course there are great views from there as well.
