My name is Lauro Bolado. I'm a computer systems engineer and have been developing Web applications for around 10 years using different technologies such as Java, .NET and more recently PHP. I'm looking forward to meet people excited about technology.
Expert. Been developing with Java Enterprise and Microsoft ASP.NET for a while. Recently - one and a half years - two years ago - I started looking at PHP mostly because of various open source projects and the enormous community around the language.
Proficient. Not a full expert because of PHP being the latest programming language in my resume, but I catch pretty quick.
HTML5 mostly because I've already know PHP, JQuery, CSS. I'm also very interested in mobile development, either through HTML/CSS by creating friendly applications targeted for all devices, as well as native applications mostly for the iOS platform.
Preferably practical topics, since I'm able to read and get through a wide range of books, but I think it's very important to kind of put everything in books into perspective by applying it and most of all, applying the concepts in the right place. Topics such as integration with external APIs, caching, advanced object oriented are some of the items that are really interesting to say a few.
Through meetup.com and also at the Wordcamp Boston 2012, where the main speaker (Kurt Eng) mentioned there was going to be a PHP conference soon. Then I looked for an upcoming meeting in this group and was able to find one for next week which I would like to attend.
