All,
I am looking forward to seeing you next Wednesday (August 10) at the Boston PHP Job Fair from 6-7pm.

I wanted to send this note to you to make sure your job/talent search is successful. We have done a lot of planning and organization to make for a great event. We have well over 300 people attending with many different skills and needs:

Full Time, Freelancers, Contractors, Interns, Volunteers, QA Engineers, Mobile developers, Game Developers, UI Designers, PHP/RoR/Django/Python/.NET/C#/Etc Developers, Java Developer, Javascript/jQuery Developers, Database/MySQL experts, NoSQL Experts, Wordpress/Drupal Developers, Front-end developers, UX, HTML & CSS Experts, Print and Graphic Design, Flash and Action Script developers, Information Architects, Security Experts, Startup entrepreneurs, Executives and business owners, Social media experts, Marketers, Project Managers, Scrum masters, Sales, Etc

Make the most of it:
The event starts promptly at 6pm and ends at 7pm. We will have free food and drinks, as well as tables with plenty of jobs from Boston PHP sponsors looking to hire. For everyone else, we will use a large posting wall for you to post messages, jobs, and resumes to each other. You will also be given a custom name tag indicating your status as well as job keywords. We be allowing everyone to use the microphone and podium to announce their job and/or skills. We have also made arrangements with Plug to help you discover interesting people before, during and after the event (see below).

It is up to you now to use the full hour to socialize and meet the people that can help you. Here are basic some tips to make the most out of the hour:

  • Don't be late - get there early (Directions and parking to MS Nerd)
  • Think of a few keywords that you can write on your name tag to match you up with the right people
  • Bring plenty of Business Cards, and practice your pitch
  • Bring a resume or job description with your photo on it (look here for sample)
  • Bring your smart phone and use Plug and Twitter to find each other (see below)
  • Don't be shy - get your name out there!

I hope we have laid the ground work for you to find and recruit jobs. If successful, we will probably repeat this on a regular basis. And when you do land a job from our event, I would like to hear about it. it would warm my heart to know we are doing good deeds. :)

Looking forward to seeing you,
