Now in its ninth year, Breaking Bagels with the Bards, better known by its nickname, Bagel Bards, meets every Saturday from 9 AM to noon at the Au Bon Pain in DAVIS SQUARE. This is not a workshop, but rather a community of poetry- and prose-writers. Out of all the poets, novelists, short story writers, playwrights, journalists, memoirists, etc, in the room, there is often as not going to be eight conversations going at once!
On average, more than two dozen people attend any given Saturday, out of about fifty regular attendees, and about seventy additional occasional participants. They meet for networking, conviviality, camaraderie, and schmoozing.
The Bagel Bards community was started and continues to be shepherded by Doug Holder and Harris Gardner, and is associated both with the Tapestry of Voices reading series and the Ibbetson Street Press and its publications.
There is no cost to attend other than buying at least a cup of tea or coffee to keep the manager happy. All are welcome.
