I've been working with computers for a long time (think of the era when storage was measured in kilobytes rather than gigabytes). Lots of machines and lots of languages later, Python is my favorite way to communicate with computers.
My favorite is a small Python project to scrape video titles from Carl Karsten's blip.tv Python video archive. Talk titles along with links to the various media are presented as an HTML file for easy reference. (blip.tv presents truncated titles)
Python web framework(s), Python event driven tools, more experience with test driven development methods, and eventually, to get virtualenv and multiple versions of Python on a Windows laptop - probably corrupted beyond easy repair by past installs.
Quant models for investment management. Statistics as applied to financial markets.
