The Boston Chapter Mountaineering Committee of the AMC is once again running an outdoor instructional rock program this spring. The program is run by experienced volunteers and covers lessons over multiple weekends on real rock. You'll learn all the skills needed to safely toprope outdoors and second traditional multi-pitch climbs. Topics taught include knots, belaying (both toprope and lead belaying), anchors, rappelling, ascending rope and more. Each topic is typically covered in a day on real rock. While you may already know a certain skill, you may not know how to body belay, rappel without a belay device or ascend the rope -- skills that can help get you out of a jam on high cliffs or mountains. There is no prior experience necessary, and this is the best value available in Boston area for outdoor rock climbing instruction.
