Running in Brookline Area???

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • Hey everyone,
I used to be a distance running but i've been out of it for a few years. I'm trying to get back in shape and I'm wondering if anyone is around the Brookline area for some fun runs? I'd be down after 5:30pm on weekdays, and anytime on weekends. If enough people are around and interested, maybe it could become a new spot. I think there's a track at the Brookline High School too... I'd appreciate any suggestions :)

Hi there, I would like to do some running in Brookline if anyone is looking to have alternate running partners maybe on weekends or one night each week.

Just getting back to running. Could meet after 1pm weekdays and after 2pm on weekends. Would need to do a loop around a pond and run at my own pace so I don't slow you down but could offer motivation.

I'd be interested in a Brookline running group! I am training for my first marathon, but would be down for any type of weekly run that gets in some miles and maybe is a little more fun! I frequently do the Chestnut Hill Res loop. Anytime after 6pm for me works (or mornings before work if there are any early birds).

Hey, I'd love to get in on this. I live in Coolidge Corner and have a bunch of good runs in the area, any where from 5 to 12. Would be fun to have some new people to run with. Should we pick an inaugural day/time and then go from there?

Jamaica Pond, both reservoirs, Andersen park (although bit short) and the Allandale Farm are great routes

Anywhere on Emerald Necklace is good; parking can be difficult at Jam Pond b/c of all the dog-walkers. Including the Pond at Bylston / Warren Street or Reservoir at Cleveland Circle is good. Early evenings on weekends or a Sunday is good.

There isn't a track at Brookline High, but there is one near High Street (very near to Jamaica Pond). I love the Chestnut Hill Reservoir for an easy, flat run. The roads up by the Park School (heading towards Larz Anderson Park) are hilly, but generally aren't too busy and are good for longer distances.

I live in Brookline and I am a runner and my schedule used to be what you have suggested here, but now it is pretty erratic...so I cannot confirm a time but I would be interested in joining when I can.
I usually run around Jamaica Pond, which is close to Brookline depending on your starting point LOL. Running to the reservoirs and anywhere in the emerald necklace is beautiful, much nicer than a track. There is a book called Great Runs in Brookline and Vicinity (available on Amazon and maybe even the library) that has tons of routes with milage and maps and restroom locations for each. Hope this helps.
