Hi Chris,

Sorry I couldn't make it out to your American Cancer Society event -- I hope it went well! If you are at all interested in running a race in honor of your uncle, I organanize the Boston Get Your Rear In Gear 5K for colon cancer awareness. We run a beautiful route around South Boston's Castle Island! Would love to see you and anyone from the meetup out there!

Attached is all the info, or just visit

Hi all,

Many of you know me from various running meetups around the Boston area, and for those of you who don't, hi, I'm Chris :), I'm normally the guy in your running group that is in the very back and REALLY slow (13-14 minute miles).  I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post something like this, so I'll send just this one email and that will be the last you ever hear about this subject.  I do a lot of volunteer work for the American Cancer Society since my father had prostate cancer, and thankfully survived, and my uncle had colon cancer, and unfortunately lost his battle with it.  I have a friend who is trying to raise $3,000 for this charity by running her first 1/2 marathon. She is holding a fundraiser in LIR (903 Boylston Street, Boston, MA - Across from the Prudential Center) tomorrow (8/30/12) starting @ 7:00 and going to 10:00.  She is very far away from her goal and really needs the help and support of people at this time outside of her "circle" of close friends and family that have already donated as much as they can to support the cause.  She has made a meetup for this event and so far it seems like she will be losing money on the evening as only 12 people will be showing up.  She is a good person, a new runner, and I hate to see someone becoming trying to help the ACS, but feeling like no one cares.  Since nearly every race is a benefit for a charity, I figured I would just make you guys aware of her event tomorrow.  Essentially she has a $15 suggested donation to get in and she will provide some appetizers and there is, of course, a cash bar.  I apologize if you find this email annoying, and again, I will never post anything non-running related in the future, I felt however this warranted an exception to the standard rules.

If you'd like to join the meetup please go HERE ( )

If you can't make the meetup, but would still like to donate, even $1 helps, please donate to her HERE. ( )

Best Regards,
