Kevin Hanson will be joining us to teach and lead much of the teaching at this event. Kevin is a Solutions Architect, working to help make 10gen customers successful with mongoDB. Prior to 10gen, Kevin worked at MarkLogic as a Senior Consultant for four years. No stranger to document oriented databases, Kevin brings expertise in the database and search engine fields. He graduated from UC San Diego with a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, and he's a big sports fan - go Raider Nation and go Lakers! In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, snowboarding, boating, and playing with the latest and greatest gadgets.

Sponsors:
We have some really awesome sponsors for this first event, and expect to keep sponsors actively involved in future events (if you know any future sponsors for location, people, or swag feel free to send them our way at [masked]). Be sure to give our sponsors some social love, and thank them for their time and contributions, because without sponsors, meetups and events can be really lame!

Recruiters: While we understand and appreciate your offers and skills in connecting rockstar technologists to the job of their dreams, we ask that you hold back from these first few meetups. Meetup culture is fragile, and to build a solid meetup group, we want to focus on an environment that facilitates unsolicited sharing and networking at first fostering only education and introduction of local developers to other local developers and prospect adopters.

From the description it looked like it might be stuff I had already seen in videos on the intertubes, but it turned out to be really interesting to hear other peoples questions and answers. Lots of fun too!

Great meetup. Lots of people and a great environment to meet in. The discussion was very interesting at many levels and the attendees ranged in knowledge from beginners to advanced users which made for good discussions

Being new to Mongo it was pretty nice to get an introduction to what it can do. Being new to document databases however it would have been nice to see more about how to structure, store, and retrieve.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
