Event is to be held rain or shine. We'll move inside, if still raining :)

Please do not park in driveway. Thanks!

*Guests, please read our posts below for more details. And, remember your wine glasses and serving spoons!

Directions to Home: Parking is limited along Norwood Ave. Please, try and carpool, if possible. This small home is the green cottage, with a brown stucco home to the left and a very light pink one to the right. Come up to the front of the house, turn right, and travel along a very wooded slate pathway and come through the open gate. The party is in the back of the home. Cheers!

Barbera and Barbaresco, how exotic!

Barbera is a red wine grape that is planted throughout Italy. Barbaresco is an Italian wine made from the Nebbiolo grape and comes from the Piedmont region of Northern Italy. So you should have no problem finding one of these types of wines for this event.

Please bring your own wine glass plus a bottle of wine and an appetizer to share. Our hosts, Shanna and Jeff, specifically request that you bring a "spicy Italian appetizer" to go with the wine. Sounds delicious!

Assuming the weather is good, which it should be, we'll use Shanna's backyard for the party.

As always, please remember to only RSVP if you can make it. Be polite and cancel your registration in advance if your plans change!

What a great evening!!! Shanna and Jeff~Thank you so much!!! All the lights in the garden... a magical setting - the air perfect, after the summer rain.... and a great theme! I don't know Italian wines very well, so this was a perfect way to get to know all the nuances of one varietal from different wineries and over a number of vintages. Add in a great group of people and voila! a good time!

A fantastic turn-out with folks and the weather! Our prayers were certainly answered :) A warm thanks to every wine enthusiast who braved a possible thunder shower, and made it out to North Boulder to drink wine with us. There were fantastic Barbera's (we never did get a Barbaresco :) and home-made spicy dishes to complement. Two of my favorite Barbera's were:

    (1) Barbera D'Asti (2011) Natale Verga, DOCG, (Piedmont, Italy) (2) Barbera (2011) Cantine Sans Silvestro, Ottone One (Piedmont, Italy) affordable

Barbera is the third most widely planted red grape variety in Italy though it is most common in the Asti and Alba regions. Barbera grapes produce rich, red wines with strong fruit flavors and aromas, especially black cherry. Other characteristics of wines made with Barbera grapes include low, mild tannins and high acidity which produces a crisp taste.

I only had a taste (because I'm in a health study that forbids it):, but could still tell what it was chosen!

Hello Guests! Jeff and I are not planning on rescheduling this event. I'm hoping that the rain clears enough this evening to have on the deck/lawn, but if it cont. to rain, we will make due inside. It may be cozy, but nothing like it on a rainy cool one. We don't have any more days this summer in our schedules to do this, so it's rain or shine :)

Good to know. Not raining at all in Longmont. Passed through quickly. Hopefully, it'll do the same in Boulder.

Since it's pouring rain where I live (and is predicted to continue through the evening), I'm wondering if you'll need to reschedule. Please keep us posted. Thanks!
