Our next brandhacker meetup will be Monday, May 11th from 6-9 pm at our new location Legends 33 (at the southern base of the Empire State Building at 6 W 33rd Street - near 5th Avenue...just West of Starbucks) where we will have 360i's Dave Berkowitz and Sawhorse Media's Gregory Galant bring to life some of the best parts of The Shorty Report as well as 360i’s report on Twitter. We’ll start off with a brief introduction to Twitter to make sure everyone understands how it works. Then Greg will cover the best ways businesses and marketers are using Twitter. Dave will demo some of the best tools to manage it and make the most of it. And finally we’ll share best practices – the rules of thumb that should ensure everyone’s using it well.

  • Live tweeting demo – covering the basics so we get everyone on the same page
  • 10 examples of marketers using Twitter, what’s working, what could be done even better
  • A brief finale of best practices
  • Q&A

This was ok, sometimes amusing, sometimes informative, but the presenters had a difficult time distinguishing between what was truly useful and what was just cool. Questions were answered somewhat superficially, and weren't mapped to the business needs of the people in the room. I came away thinking that Twitter can be fun and even useful, but more often it's just a curiosity and it's not quite ready for primetime.

Is there going to be wifi there? if so I'll bring along a laptop to demo the pre-release version of my new application http://www.MyTwitterButler.... It's a windows twitter application that allows you to setup multiple accounts to auto follow for up to 4 keywords in 50,100,400 increments with search restart and one touch view of the accounts you've followed per search. Also allows you to Direct Message all or some of your followers in bulk. Will be selling it for $10 via the website.
