The book we'll be reading this month is:
Listening to Grasshoppers: Field Notes on Democracy, by Arundhati Roy

So sorry I missed this and glad it went well. I loved the book but found it hard going like Benedict. A question for you all, that I would have asked on Wednesday. Do you all believe the attack on the parliament buildings was orchestrated by the Indian security services and, if so, where did they get the idea from? I think I may have to revisit Ian Henshall's 9/11 Revealed, a conspiracy theory I had previously dismissed.
I'm back from Scotland but have a family funeral in York on Tuesday and so haven't returned to Brighton yet. For those in the fiction book club, I now need to try and get Let The Great World Spin finished in time.

Hey guys. I rushed down yesterday, thinking a glance at the map before I left would be all I needed to find the place. However my internal sat nav failed me! I will make an effort to find my way there to the next meeting.

Dear all - Very sorry to miss this again! I am way below par with a chest infection and nobody would have thanked me for coughing and sneezing my way through the evening. I had managed to read 50 pages of "Grasshoppers" and - whilst finding it very interesting and enjoying Roy's style - I also found the content relentlessly grim and depressing. I hope to be able to join you at the June meeting. Best wishes, Ben O'Donohoe.
Very lively, well informed opinions, interesting to learn how in a group of this nature the readers are able to bring to the table, so much from this particular book the concerns that are so common for us all . I enjoyed .
I will be very interested to learn just how the meet-up proceeds...good to meet other interested parties.
