at 6 p.m. we'll have some social time
at 6:30 p.m. we'll start the evening's topical program
at 8 p.m. we'll have some more social time
The topic for the evening is addiction. Roxanne Allen, from the SMART Recovery program, is our guest speaker. Roxanne has been working as a volunteer for SMART Recovery for the last four years as an online meeting facilitator, blogmaster, co-founder of SMART Recovery for Family & Friends, and editor of the new SMART Recovery Family & Friends Handbook. We will leave plenty of time for q&a and discussion from the group.
SMART Recovery offers science-based addiction recovery programs, held online and in person. It is NOT a 12-step program, does not deal with "higher powers" or the such, and therefore is a good fit for nonbelievers as well as believers.
This event is free, and no donation is required. However, RRNA is raising funds through March in support of SMART. If you want to donate towards this end, you can do so by passing money along to RRNA officers at any of our meetings, and we will write a check to SMART for everyone. You also can donate directly to SMART. See http://www.smartrecovery.org/donate/.
Beverages, cups, napkins, plates, utensils provided. Whether or not you want to bring food is up to you. If you want to bring enough to share, even better, but it is not required.
