Howdy all,

I know that some of you don't really like Portillo's as a venue, so I wanted to get a discussion going here about whether or not we should switch venues and, if so, where should we go? After we've hashed it out for a bit, I can put together a poll to see if we should try someplace new. Please try to keep suggestions for venues around the Vernon Hills/Mundelein/Libertyville/Lincolnshire area.

Cheers - Matt

This is a bit of a non-post I guess ... but I inquired at Austin's Saloon up at Libertyville mostly because I was in there. Turns out they do Monday night football all the time, so that's out.

There's Blue 60 in Mundelein as an idea. Never been in there. http://www.bluesixty....

I have been to Blue 60 when they were still open for lunch and the food is good. I do not know how it is at night. The set up of the place is mostly booths and high-tops which would be different than one long table set up we are used to. Any thoughts about Bill's Pizza? Do we want to maybe rotate locations to make it more interesting?

I like the idea of rotating locations until we find one we like. We could try the typical places like Chilis and Buffalo Wild Wings. I once worked at a place where we would go out to lunch once a month. Each person in the department got to choose the restaurant on a rotating basis and there could be no objections. We might try a method like that.
I agree with the previous comment that Monday night football could limit our options.
I went to Yelp.com and did a search on restaurants in the area that are good for group dining. Nothing really jumped out at me, but maybe someone else will see something that I don't.

I haven't been to any of them to know anymore...

I have been to Mambo a couple of times and enjoyed it. While we are discussing places is the time we meet open to discussion. I would prefer to meet earlier as I get off work at 5 and sometime don't come because I do not want wait around in area until 7. Anyone open to 6PM or 6:30 PM.

Okay, I've seen some good suggestions here. So what I will do is set up a poll to see if people want to try a new place in January and, if so, where.

Btw, I probably won't put Buffalo Wild Wings on the list, because they tend to do the Monday night football thing as well. Not to mention, I cannot stand how loud they play their music.

I suggest looking into the public library systems of the suburbs around there. You can reserve a community room or auditorium for free. Quiet and largely private, although you usually have to agree that your event is open to the public. That's what I do for meetups in Chicago. Some will allow you to eat snacks in those rooms, but not the rest of the library. We usually go to a nearby restaurant after the meetup.
