What to do with the religious baggage?

Whether or not you were raised religious,  since religion is so prevalent in our society, you probably have been (or are) burdened with some religious baggage*.  We'll discuss what some of that baggage might be.  What needs to go, what should be modified and what might be kept.

*Baggage-ideas, beliefs, practices, attitudes, prejudices that persist and impede our journey.

So sorry to have been unable to make it tonight, after responding that I would. Hope some of the attendees will share the highlights, as I have baggage and it doesn't have wheels!

I was raised Unitarian Universalist in the sixties and seventies. I have to laugh at all my religious friends and there crutch. Like to come but Mondays are a conflict for me. Hope we actually have gust in the pub this month

We kind of cycle through topics, twisting them some. We had some grief/death themes somewhat recently so we might want to wait on that one.

No problem. I had looked back through some previous meetups for topics but didn't go too far.

Another possible idea for discussion is dealing with grief in a non-religious way. I posted a link in the FB page to Grief Beyond Belief, a support group for nonbelievers.

I would love to discuss more words or terms that still make us cringe and how we can embrace them more humanly. I have ONE that still makes me ill to this day. Our last topic on spirituality made me think of how religion has monopolized so many terms and words.

What is the word that bothers you?
