SYNOPSIS - 12 Years A Slave  tells the extraordinary true story of Solomon Northup.  In the pre-Civil War United States, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery.  Facing cruelty (personified by a malevolent slave owner, portrayed compellingly by Michael Fassbender), as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity.  In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon's chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist (Brad Pitt) will forever alter his life.

MEETING TIME - 12:30pm

CLASSIFICATION - MA15+ (Mature themes, violence, cruelty, some nudity and brief sexual content)

Very confronting but shouldn't have been surprised with a slavery movie. Well done to Chiwetel Ejiofor getting an Oscar nom for this.

12 Years a Slave was confronting, but powerful and exceptionally well acted. Not a movie to be "enjoyed" in the typical sense - leave your brain at the door and let the film wash over you - but very engaging and one to admire.

Cat its only the cinema so why not see how you go, no panic, if you make it great.....there's a market on later so maybe some of us might like to explore the food on offer after the movie if timing is right
