SYNOPSISTerri Hooley is a radical rebel and music-lover in 1970s Belfast when the bloody conflict known as the "Troubles" shuts down his city. As all his frends take sides and take up arms, Terri opens a record shop on the most bombed half-mile in Europe and calls it GOOD VIBRATIONS. Thru it he discovers a compelling voice of resistance in the city's nascent underground punk scenes. Galvanizing the young musicians into action, he becomes the unlikely leader of a motley band of kids and punks who join him in his mission to create a new community, an alternative Belfast, to bring his city back to life.

BAFTA nominated for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer for Colin Carberry and Glenn Patterson.

this movie was worth seeing as it gave us a unique view of life in 1970's Ireland through the life of a man who started punk rock in North Ireland. Even though there was a divide in Ireland at the time, punk music brought people from either side together to create music. I enjoyed the scene when they get pulled over by the military and get asked if they were Catholics or Protestants and Terri Hooley replied "I didn't think to ask them..' to him the fact they were a punk rock band was all he needed to know.

I found this film to be an interesting look at the influence of punk rock in troubled 1970s Belfast, as I had only really heard about the punk rock scene in London previously. There was a line in this movie that I thought summed it up beautifully - it didn’t matter what colour your hair was, or whether you were a Protestant or a Catholic, it just mattered that you were a punk. I also just read that the real Terri Hooley makes a cameo appearance in the movie, he is the the accordion player in the recording booth!
So what makes a good movie even better – great company, interesting discussion, yummy lunch, and winning the movie ticket raffle! Thanks everyone for a lovely day and to Shannon for uploading the photos!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
