Irish movie - "CALVARY" at Palace Barracks Cinemas

IRISH MOVIE - "CALVARY"

DATE/TIME - SUNDAY, 6th JULY 2014 @ 9:45am (for 10:00am session)

VENUE - PALACE BARRACKS CINEMAS

TRAILER - CLICK HERE

RSVPs - CLICK HERE

DIRECTOR - John Michael McDonagh

CAST - Brendan Gleeson, Chris O’Dowd, Kelly Reilly, Aidan Gillen, Dylan Moran

SYNOPSIS - CALVARY’s Priest is a good man, intent on making the world a better place. He is continually shocked and saddened by the spiteful and confrontational inhabitants of his small country town.

One day, his life is threatened during confession. He shrugs off the altercation, and continues to perform his pastoral duties, trying as best he can to help his parishioners, despite having a fragile daughter to contend with, and a fellow priest who may as well be an atheist for all the dedication he has to his calling.

Soon, however, the sinister and troubling undercurrents he has tried to ignore start to make their presence felt more keenly, and as the forces of darkness close in around him, he begins to wonder if he will have the courage to face his own personal Calvary.

TICKETS - If you don't have a Palace Movie Club card, you're welcome to ask a group member if you can borrow their Palace card, as it allows up to two discounted tickets to be purchased per session.

Palace Movie Club membership is excellent value. It enables up to two tickets to be purchased per session at a discounted rate ($12.00 instead of $17.50), and costs only $16.50 for one year or $25.00 for two years. Membership virtually pays for itself immediately because you receive two complimentary tickets for each year of membership: one (or two) immediately and one in the month of your birthday. The two year membership is the best value. Further details are available here: http://www.palaceshop.com.au/categories/Movie-Club/.

PARKING - There is no sporting event scheduled at Lang Park (Suncorp Stadium) on this day, so you should be able to find a free parking spot on Caxton Street, if you arrive early enough. Otherwise, the carpark under the cinema is free for up to 2 hours, $7 for up to 4 hours, and $13 after 4 hours. This is a discounted rate for cinema patrons, and requires that your parking voucher be validated at the box office.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT - Public transport to The Barracks is excellent. Please CLICK HERE for further information.

$2 CONTRIBUTION - It would be sincerely appreciated if members could contribute a $2 coin at the event to help cover our group's ongoing Meetup.com fees. Guests of members don't need to contribute. Please give your coin to the Event Host. Thanks so much!

On my way the slow leisurely way via the public transport. I heard the trainlines were down past Albion so I've got some of today's paper and I can relax and look at the scenery on my way to Roma Street Station/bus terminal then a short brisk walk to The Barracks! G'morning everyone!

Two tables of ten maybe. One inside for the cold chook sooks {like me} and one outside for the hardy folk who like a crisp breeze between their kneecaps.
