Following the success of the Enoggera Reservoir circumnavigation (thanks again Jesse), how about we try the sister reservoir over the hill. Enoggera was the first dam built in Qld (2nd in Australia). Gold Creek Reservoir followed about 20 years later. The track is 5.5 km, so roughly half the length we did for Enoggera Reservoir. There is a short sidetrack leading to a hoop pine plantation. Each year there is a race called the pinnacle classic which incorporates the Gold Creek track.
The following website provides a pdf brochure for the dam.
If you are interested in the annual run, here is the website with info on that event. It was held this year on 12th April.
Those wishing to continue the day can arrange to go to a nearby coffee shop afterwards. As far as I know, there are no facilities at the reservoir other than toilets. There are facilities at Lake Manchester which is a short drive further out. Also, there are connecting tracks from Gold Creek Reservoir to both Lake Manchester and Enoggera Reservoir. So if you wish to have a BBQ after the walk you could go there.
If people wish to car pool, pickups could be done at Indooroopilly Railway Station, or possibly Brookfield Shopping Centre. Buses do go out that way but only as far as an aged care home about 5 km from the dam.
Any takers? :)
