Beach Camping at Brooms Head - (now Rescheduled 15th March)

We are camping for 2 days at 'Brooms Head Caravan Park' with another family friendly meetup group, and you are welcome to join us there if you like to camp and cool off during hot summer season. This private camping site is one of the very few ones located right on a 1.5km of absolute beach frontage. Brooms Head is one of those special holiday places that escape mainstream tourism.

Things you can do there: beach walking, swimming, snorkeling, fishing, surfing, bird watching, rock pools, relaxing, chat with fellow campers. A nearby 'Brooms Head lookout' offers fantastic views and is a great place for spotting migrating whales and pods of dolphins.

How to get there: Brooms Head is located in NSW, about 290km (3 hrs drive) south of Brisbane. On Pacific Highway, past 5km Yamba exit, turn right on Brooms Head/Maclean exit and travel about 22km to Brooms Head Caravan Park (just follow the signboards).

You would make your own way to the venue. If you can give or need a car lift, just request here and arrange pickup details by sending emails from member's profile. Drivers offering lift, should get $30 for a return trip.

Campsite booking: Ring[masked] to make a tent site booking. Tenting site price ranges from $20 to $29 for a beach front site. Link to website:

Update 6th March: I have 2 spare campsite booked, contact me for details if interested.

Things to bring: your usual camping, food, medicine, cooking gear and first-aid kit. Drinking water is available there. Caravan Park has washing sink, flush toilets, hot showers and coin operated laundry & BBQ. And don't forget your camera, swimmers and a happy & relaxing attitude.

Looks like a lovely spot is this still going to be on if the rain keeps on and on? http://www.willyweather.com.au/nsw/mid-north-coast/coffs-harbour.html

    Certainly am tempted regardless

Weather prediction for the weekend is not favorable for camping so it is cancelled now. If members are interested, we can postpone to Friday 15th March.

At the moment the weekend weather prediction is wet for Brooms Head but it can change if the low pressure system moves away from the coast. I will do a final check on Thursday for the weather and with the camping site for any flooding there and advise here. Stay tuned.

Hey everyone! Bring your fishing gear or borrow a rod and join me for some relaxing beach fishing. It's a great way to meet everyone! No fishing experience necessary, just a fun attitude!

Brij - maybe check conditions with Clarence Valley Council. I just cancelled a week at Angourie because of poor beach and road conditions. Andrew Blackwell

Hi people, I can take 2 people in my car if needed. I have a medium size 4WD that will take a reasonable amount of gear. I live in the western suburbs & will head down on Friday arvo or Saturday am depending on others who might like to join me.

If you haven't seen Iluka Bluff lookout then the trip to Brooms Head can be good opportunity to see it. Take Iluka exit on Pacific Highway and 5km before Iluka township, turn left on Iluka Bluff Beach Road (it is hard gravel road - good for 2WD). The platform at Iluka Bluff lookout is perfectly positioned for an aerial view of the entire Bundjalung NP, complete with a soundscape of waves crashing on to the rocky bluff walls below. Just mesmerising.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
