Jonathon has asked me to suggest and organise a new Expat Night for all those who, though pubs and sticky carpets may be a deep part of our British souls, may prefer another night during the month for drinks and a catch-up. There are over 1,000 of us in this group (wow!) so we want to organise enough different meet-ups to satisfy as many of you as possible, as well as getting us to make new friends and continue to welcome old and new expats alike.
We have had calls (for example) for alternatives to the Old Man's Pub (that Toronto seems to do so well) for a meet-up. Some of you really liked the night Jonathon planned at Earl's for example, so perhaps if there's a positive response we could visit some of the bars that Toronto also seems to do well (and with table service too), including the Queen & Beaver (more 'gastropub' than the traditional boozer) and others?
We were thinking of hosting these nights on the 3rd weekend of the month so as not to conflict with the v.brilliant Quiz Nights that happen on the last weekend of the month. So our first one would be Saturday 23rd June and, depending on the level of interest, I will find us somewhere downtown/central-ish to meet.
What do we think? Who's in? Any suggestions of downtown locations that are a bit of a change from Ye Olde Pub?
Let me know and I'll get organising…
(oh, and hurrah for T.O. sunshine on a bank holiday weekend!)
