There are only 3 more dates to go see The Tempest: Such Stuff As Dreams are Made On and I don't want to miss it- January 24th, 26th, and 27th at 7:30pm . It's gotten some stellar reviews!
Pallas Artistic Director Tracey Elaine Chessum delves into Shakespeare's classic The Tempest, reinvigorating the play in true Pallas fashion with a new interpretation focusing on an alternative point of view--that of Prospero's brother, Antonio. While still offering the splendor and pageantry of the original piece, this re-envisioned production, with Antonio as the central character, asks: Why are relationships envisioned as games of strategy? What are the causes--and catastrophes--of sibling rivalry? Should romantic love take precedence over familial love and the bond between siblings? Does professional ambition for place and power trump brotherhood? And why do our minds fabricate such fantastic dreams to hide within when we wrestle with such difficult and conflicted choices?
Blending multimedia, Shakespeare's sonnets, and skilled performances, this production illuminates an Antonio that is constantly calculating his next strategic move. But, what happens when the next move you make turns out to be a move against yourself?
