Dining Around the World Series, Twisted Vines Wine Bar (French) Tue 01/08 6PM

There are over a dozen ethnic restaurants in South Arlington along the Columbia Pike corridor.  RSVP ONLY IF COMING. Let's talk theater - what you have seen and what you want to see.

Our sixth dining experience will be at Twisted Vines Bistro (French), 2803 Columbia Pike

Let's celebrate the new year at this little wine bar.  If like me, you do not plan to go out on New Years Eve, here is another opportunity to toast the new year with others.  Happy hour is from 5-7pm offering $5 select wines by the glass, $3.50 select beers, and $6 select appetizers.  We are starting at 6pm rather than 6:30pm so that we can enjoy the happy hour and because this wine bar is very small, but intimate and cozy.  Twisted Vines carries at least 20 wines by the glass and over 100 bottles from small producers around the world. If you want dinner and a salad or soup and a glass of wine, expect to pay at least $40.  See link to menu below.

Here are what some reviewers are saying.  It's a tiny menu to choose from but the picks are great.  I can't say enough about Twisted Vines! In the days of growing corporate chains serving over-processed food, it's incredibly welcoming to find a modern, in-touch, family owned and operated place like Twisted Vines in the heart of Columbia Pike. TwiVi offers a wonderful selection of wines, cheeses, charcuterie and scrumptious small plates.

Flavors can be easy to miss since it's tucked on a side street just off Columbia Pike.

Bamian Restaurant (Afghan), 5634 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church

Afghanistan restaurant offering traditional Afghan cuisine presented with a gourmet flair and served in an elegant and casual atmosphere. You can enter their free parking lot from both Leesburg Pike (Route 7) and Columbia Pike.

Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse (American/Bar Food), 2903 Columbia Pike

Want to see a movie after dinner?  Movies at the Arlington Cinama Drafthouse usually start around 7pm on week nights and are $1 on Monday, $2 on Tuesday, $3 on Wednsdays.   We can see what is playing.

Eamonn’s A Dublin Chipper and T.N.T. Bar, 2413 Columbia Pike

A fun and casual place where everything is fried, even candy bars.

Twisted VInes Bottleshop and Bistro, 2803 Columbia Pike

Twisted Vines is a family owned wine bar with a limited but well prepared selection of food.

Raga Indian Restaurant, 5872 Leesburg Pike  Falls Church (just a few miles from where Columbia Pike crosses Leesburg Pike).  Wonderful weekend buffet.
