Ring in 2013 with a Galaxy Dive at Ginnie Springs

Cave Diver Forum is having their New Year's Eve Social at Ginnie Springs from 12/31-1/01/2013 with the traditional Galaxy Dive in the Ballroom to celebrate. Let's have our own social and then dive down to join in the Galaxy Dive.

We will cookout hot dogs/hamburgers, chips, salad and drinks (so when you sign up let us know what bringing).

We can make a couple of earlier dives, so we can then just find a place in the ballroom and hover as the luminescent from the glow sticks are released into the flow and disperse throughout the ballroom...watch as the lights outline fellow divers and float as stars....

Cost: $30 + tax to scuba (we need to meet at the office and fill out paperwork) + any rentals, etc that you need.

If you want this to count towards one of your 5 needed specialty dives for your Advanced Open Water ($199.00 total cost - additional park fees, charters not included) or your Night Diver Specialty ($99.00 total cost ), then must pay the total fees listed (which include the needed materials, certification cards, and any instructor fees for the additional supervised dives). Just let us know and we can get you the material and maybe even get an additional dive knocked out :)

Colin and Kim - not sure if Michael and I will be coming or not on Monday - been a busy weekend and we are not really night owls, but it is fun, and a must do type dive. We live close by, so don't typically camp there to save our diving funds, but many do and have a great time and there are some hotels near by (we have a "B&B/dive hostel" but no space :( for the night)

Cave Diver's Forum are hosting this event annual Galaxy Dive at Ginnie Springs, New Year's Eve - Midnight. There will be a mini social at 7pm on the 31st, the midnight chem light dive at midnight, then a real social and cookout (lots of prizes) on the 1st (Tuesday).

Ginnie Springs is offering us the same dive package as last year. A $30.00 dive fee includes diving on December 31st and January 1st, 2013. You will be required to pay for that on Monday. You will receive car passes and dive bands for both day. The good news is you don't have to stop at the shop on Tuesday.

Last year we met as a group and had our own social and then connected with them for the dive (we even assisted with the preparations of the chem light) and then joined them in the dive and headed out after :) If you want to join them for their eats, they just ask that you bring something to share :) We will plan our own galaxy dive at some point this year.

Hi guys, couple questions. How is renting gear going to work out? There will be 2 other adults with me, one that dives and one that doesn't and 3 kids. I only need to get tanks and was just going to use my local shop since we are not camping out at Ginnie and surely the shop isn't going to stay open until we are done Monday night? The other adult that wants to join us has absolutely zero gear though. Not a snorkel, mask, nothin haha. The only place I know locally that rents a full set is Ginnie. Will he still be able to rent if he makes it there by 8 and then what, return the next day I guess? I was out there last year but didn't need to rent anything at the time and didn't stay till midnight. I also have one upset certified 11 year old that won't be diving lol. Ginnies rules say 12, I'm assuming they haven't changed that lately? Thanks for any info! We had a blast at DiveQuest, can't wait to dive with y'all again. Oh and what can we bring for you guys :)

Jennifer, please let Christina know that I got her email, but we have been off-line (I know hard to believe anyone can be for any amount of time anymore, but we were traveling :), sorry to hear what the outcome was for her daughter...bummer about the age restrictions :( Last time we went we got tanks and left them at the guard gate when we left, so perhaps that could be done for your friend, other than that not a lot of local places to get gear. We are playing it by ear about attending this year as we are a bit worn out, if we were going could maybe assist with some of the gear needs, but we couldn't help much with the wet suit. You might want to check with Wayne at Amigos in Ft. White (close to Ginnie) as he has rental gear and is open 24/7 :) I will try to call Ginnie tomorrow and inquire a bit for you guys. Will update things tomorrow after our dive. Glad you guys had fun at Disney and look forward to diving with you as well.

Thanks DeAnn, we tried getting a hold of Ginnie but never got through so I'm not for sure on the age restriction but that's what they have posted. As for gear, def. winging it haha. I'm gonna check with Lloyd's and see what he can do for my friend but for sure will get my own tanks from him and not worry with Ginnie. Thanks for the tip about Amigos, I don't know that one and gives us another option :) Thanks for all your help :)

This will be a good opportunity for a gear rinse... just having returned from a week of ocean diving... :-)
