3 Day/2 Nights Portland Tour on Labour Day Weekend

  • September 1, 2012 · 7:00 AM

Dear all,

We are going to do carpool, with currently 12 people as a maximum.

For those who have already paid the $100 deposit (paid during one of our events) I put you on the attending list.

For those who showed interests, but cannot commit, I can only put you on Waiting List at this time.  Please either email me, or come to an event to pay for the deposit to confirm a spot.

We may open up more spots if we find more drivers.

If you just saw this posting and you would like to join, please add yourself to the waiting list, and send me a message.

General Itinerary

SEPT 1 - Saturday

We are planning for a 3am departure.  I will need every member to respond with their phone number and address so we can plan pick up routes on the day of. (this will not be shared with everyone just your driver)

We will make a few stops along the way. Someone suggested Tillamook. Then head to Canon Beach, Oregon.  This is the beach where this movie "Goonies" was filmed.  We will spend a half day at the beach, then head into Portland.

SEPT 2 - Sunday

We will head to the outlets in the morning then head back to downtown to walk around and try out the food carts.  We will also visit bubble tea place in Portland!

SEPT 3 - Monday

We will depart at 11am after checkout.  We will make a stop in Vancouver Portland for frozen custards and Seattle at the Cheesecake factory. ETA for home is approx 8-9pm.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I want to get an idea of how many people will be interested in a Portland/Oregon Tour.

Depending on number of people, we can either do
1) Carpool
2) Bus tour

We will leave on Saturday morning (September 1) and returning on Monday afternoon (September 3).

Carpool will be pricier probably around $250/300 pp.
Bus tour will be $150/pp for quad room, or $200 for doubles room.

Please indicate if you are interested, and also which option you would prefer!

    Hi, David,
I assumed that we will leave on Saturday morning and back Monday afternoon, then no need for Friday off. I am waiting for a confirmed schedule from you guys this weekend, otherwise, I have to join with my friends other plan.
    thanks

if we are doing carpool... Does anyone want to look at this planning? (hotels, etc)
we will need to have the solid plan, and start to collect deposits from participants (I suggest $100 per person).

Hi, all, I noticed many people are mentioning on comments wanting to drive, and most of these comments are by those who aren't going... :)
From organization perspective, I think it's easier to take a bus tour, yes it does not have the perfect itinerary and it is more towards shopping at the Outlets, but it solves a lot of problems that may arise with a small group like ours.

Another reason to drive your own car so you can see what you want to see... But having seen the sand dunes of Oregon, you get over it quite quickly... :-)))

There is a lot of shopping in the tour. I would prefer to see more of the beaches and Oregan coast.

If you are driving, you might want to check out the King Tut Exhibition at the Pacific Science Centre at Seattle on your way to or back from Portland. It is the final stop on a North American tour that started in 2008 and the largest King Tut exhibition ever shown on the West Coast. It features 149 striking objects spanning 2000 years of ancient Egyptian history. For more information, check out their web site: http://www.pacificsciencecenter.org/King-Tut/king-tut-the-exhibition

The tour states the Marriot as the hotel. Do you know which one since there are 3 around Portland?

If only if I didn't have to work on the Monday!

I actually enjoy driving and it's quite fun when everyone knows where they are going. I myself, have reward points at Best Westerns and Holiday Inns. They are both free to sign up online too.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
