Travelling Dance (flash) Mob!

Hi all,

Anyone up for fun (surprise) event?

Let's do a Travelling Dance (flash) Mob!
on Sat, 22 March 2014
, meet up at 12PM (midday)

Starting from South Bank, and finish in Queens Street Mall, stopping few places doing dances.

The Plan:
- Meet up at Picnic Island Green, the park in front of MADO Turkish Restaurant, South Bank.
Map: http://goo.gl/maps/nD5Og

Find a guy wearing BLACK buttoned shirt with WHITE collar, WHITE short pants and BLACK & WHITE shoes.
That would be Andi.

- Bring lunch, share lunch & mingle with other participants.
NOTE: bring simple food in throw-away container for easy clean up.

- Bring Water Bottle/Drinks

- After lunch & mingle, learn the dance moves.
No prior knowledge or rehearsals are required.
All dances will be easy dance moves.
All the songs would be familiar to you, and some dance moves you already familiar with.

- Start moving and stop few places to (fun) surprise the people around us.

- Finish at Queens Street Mall for the last dances stop, and we can go for drinks afterwards.

Attire: you can wear whatever clothes that are comfortable for dancing.

Hi Andy sounds like fun I cannot make this event but would be keen to another sometime soon. By the way what type of dance moves are you doing do you require a partner are are they solo dances. Sam

I haven't got any plan to organise this type of event in the near future.

Not a partner dance. Dance type is a mixture of Jazz and Line Dancing.

Hi Andi, do you mind sharing your mobile # in case people have trouble finding the group or even running late but still want to join?

    March 20, 2014

    • Andi

      Hi,

As most people know in this group, I don't give out my mobile phone in this kind of event.

Because during the event, I will be too busy: socialising, teaching the dances, and organise the event...
I rather doing those, than answering phone call most of the time.

The easiest way to find the group: read the instructions above, don't come too late.

sounds interesting although I have two left feet!

    • Andi

For this event, can you swap them with two right feet?
The dance will work better with right feet ;)

    Hey,

Thanks for responding to my comments.
So, I guess... we can wear whatever we want then...

I need to clear up about this event, though....
This will not a pure "Flash Mob" event, the way you know it.
This is the reason I always put the word "(flash)" in brackets.

    - We will be travelling in a group to the spot where we are going to perform.
(And it's okay, if we do look like a group).

    - After we perform, we will encourage audiences around us to participate and join us in the next dance.

    - And we walk off as a group to the next spots, and hoping some audiences who join us earlier will come along with our group.

I agree with Monique and Gill - if we dress too much alike, we will look more like a dance group. Let's keep things individual and maintain the effect of 'randomness'.

    Hi,

I'm thinking of harmonising our attire/clothes to Black and White colour.

So you can wear either Black, or White, or combination of Black & White.

Do you think it is a good idea?

    February 27, 2014

    • Monique

I personally think it defeats the purpose of a flash mob. I am under the impression that we will get more surpise factor from the public if we dress normally.

Love this idea. Will be away for this one. Hope you do it again

Sounds like a good laugh. Might need a bit of Dutch courage to be dancing in public, in broad daylight though!

    February 18, 2014

  • Anna

Any more details on this? when rehearsals will be etc, i'm going to sydney early march for a week, i might have to miss some but will make it when i can.

    February 12, 2014

    • Andi

There will be No rehearsals prior to the D-day.
All the dances will be taught on the day, all of them are easy moves.

We will have lunch, chat, socialise with other people first,
Then after we learn the dance move, and we will embark on our journey for the Travelling Dance Mob.

Sounds like great fun, and at the moment I have that day free, so hopefully will make it.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
