budapest.js - Austrian invasion

LOFFICE (map)

Selected By: Laszlo Bacsi

This event will speak English and all presentations will be in English. This way people coming to visit us from abroad will also understand. Everyone is welcome to give a lightning talk or a presentation. Send your ideas to budapestjs-organizers at googlegroups dot com or to @icanscale on Twitter and we will add it to the list.

Presentations planned so far:

  • Amy Hoy: The closure pattern
  • Thomas Fuchs: Emile
  • Adam Nemeth: Building pure JS apps with Ext JS and couchdb for desktop and web

Even programmers need applications sometimes; packed with a bunch of web programmers, hardly any free time, we decided to build our development support applications on a platform we all love and know: JavaScript.

  • Akos Toth-Mate: Google Wave Gadgets API

Introduction to Google Wave Gadgets API through a collaborative Prezi presentation editor. Fundamentals of the API, explaining the shared state model and its usage.

  • Ádám Mészáros: Creative JavaScript

This talk is about my experiences with popular javascript frameworks and why I decided to build my own: what features I miss in others, and how we improved our product's performance using my own. The main idea is that browsers have their own HTML and CSS behaviour, which we don't need to change with Javascript. All we want is a simple predictive framework what we can use for productive web application development. I have collected the best ideas from other Javascript frameworks and libraries and added my own abstractions and ideas. (But I'm not telling you to use my library, it's just an example of what is possible.) My goal is to share ideas about website performance optimization and how to combine cutting edge technologies like WebWorkers, CSS3 or cross frame messaging.
