Registration is open until May 26

Starts June 8th

Learn about the Buddhist path from the ground up. Who was the Buddha and who were his disciples? What is the Eightfold Path? What is meditation? How do you meditate?  What are the Buddha teachings for lay people and what is the Shin path?

The Beginners Course surveys the Buddha's life and teachings, and how they are applied to 21st century American life. Since 2004, this course, also known as Buddhism 101, has been the New England Institute of Buddhist Studies’ most popular course.  It is open to beginners to intermediate levels.

Explore this 2,600 Religious Tradition

We only offer Buddhism for Beginners once a year, during the summer and early autumn months, and it runs for 5 months, meeting once a month only (7 times).  This course covers numerous great books that survey the Buddhist tradition, both Theravada and Mahayana schools. This course is designed to explore Buddhism from the life of its founder to the very heart of modern Shin Buddhist spirituality. Not only does it seek to give the student a historical and intellectual overview of Buddhism but emphasizes daily practice, which is, living the Buddha's teachings as a practical vehicle for spiritual awakening.

5 Months that will Change your Life
