BPF Community Night: Buddhist Conversations

Buddhist Conversations.

Some people read a lot about Buddhism, and some may practice Buddhism a lot. But many people interested in Buddhism have little opportunity to talk about their interests in an informal setting.

For BPF Community Night, we want to invite all members the Buddhist community to come together for fellowship and discovery.

We'd like to create an opportunity for practicing wise speech: truthful, gentle, helpful, kindly and timely.

Conversations about some aspect of Buddhism (like history or beliefs), or interactions of Buddhism with topics such as art, music, politics, and peace.

The conversation will begin with some participant's suggestion of a starting point: an idea or short quote. We'll see where we go. We'll also consider specific topics that might warrant forming a repeating conversation group (groups can be small or large, short- or long-lived).

Wifi connections will be available for showing illustrations and viewing internet material.

This Meetup will repeat every first and third-Wednesday of the month (Dec 1, Dec 15).

People of all levels of experience with Buddhism are welcome.

Come and see.

Refreshments and snacks provided.

We had a good discussion about the meaning of Buddhism to us and what direction we would like to see BPF take for social engagement, such a doing an educational activity for young people in a noncompetitive way that promotes thinking and acting in a reflective and compassionate way.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
