Paddle or bike events for Wednesday evenings Each event will be approx 2 hours. They are fun events, not instructional. Sunset this date is around 7:07 so we will need to keep that in mind for end times. Arrive in time to START the activity at 5:00PM. This time we will!
Organizer may limit the number of participants depending on the location/numbers on the RSVP. PLEASE consider the numbers and your ACTUAL ability to attend. Crazy numbered event participant numbers are not the goal here and it is ecologically/logistically best not to stress some locations. Please be considerate. Looking forward to stress-free events!
Paddle events require PFD, your own vessel/equipment, any personally necessary food/water and a light source. Sometimes things happen - like a huge barge being pushed up the canal by a tugboat.....We should have lights available for delays and or if needed for packing up.
Bike events will require bike and helmet and other necessary items, light source.
Activities will be about 2 hours only. We paddle or bike out for approx an hour and then turn back - an easy method for calculating your distance! Come to have fun.
Post event gatherings to be arranged if participants are interested - not mandatory. Come prepared with change of clothing and money if you think you might participate. Suggestions for locations of bike/paddles/post gathering locations are welcome.
Gallagher Beach - enter parking area between the beach and Dug's Dive - keep to your left in the parking lot to stay in the free parking area , go the far end - you will find a ramp to enter the beach. Drop off your vessel and park in the lot. Bicyclists meet a the ramp area also. You will be cycling around the outer harbor, maybe checking out the several slips, sliding down the slides at Times beach, stopping to walk in the water , observing kite-fliers if they are around and checking out the Lighthouse by the Coast guard station - depending on your speed. You might make it over to Silo city of Ohio Street depending on your desires! Meet kayakers back at the beach in 2 hours.
